My name is Jim Purcell and I am the Chancellor of the University of Hilton Head.
My great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather Perk Purcell came to Hilton Head Island on the ship with William Hilton in August 1663 with the idea of the University of Hilton Head in his mind. His idea was passed on for generations until I decided to do something about it. Now the University of Hilton Head is a reality and students and alumni alike continue to enjoy his dream of the island.
